Hampton Park encompasses 60 acres. It is the largest park on the Charleston peninsula. It’s lush gardens, scenic lake, arboreous diversity, and one mile walking track offer neighborhood residents the perfect space for family picnics, outdoor exercise or celebrations.

The Italianate pavilion located on the east side of the park, is the site of frequent wedding and reunion celebrations.
The Charleston River Dogs stadium and Brittlebank Park are a short distance from Hampton Park Terrace. Some of Charleston’s most popular intimate dining is found in the neighborhood. Harold’s Cabin with its brick walls, wood flooring and cozy dining area hearkens back to the days when this corner building served as the neighborhood grocery and lunch counter.
The homes of Hampton Park Terrace feature early 20th century architecture. Most homes in the neighborhood were built between 1905 and 1925. The style of the homes are representative of the period, and not characteristic of the 18th and 19th century homes found further south on the peninsula. Beautiful Bungalows, Frontsquare and Four-gable home styles dominate the neighborhood.
The neighborhood was added to the National Register in 1997, acknowledging the large number of homes that remain intact in the area. Today Hampton Park Terrace is a vibrant, thriving neighborhood where families enjoy strolling the sidewalks, and feeling like a part of a tight knit community.
